Former Lazio goalkeeper Luca Marchegiani blasted Inter for their approach to today’s Serie A match against Bologna, as they fell to a 1-0 defeat.

The Nerazzurri were out of sorts at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara as Riccardo Orsolini’s second half goal settled the encounter, leaving Simone Inzaghi’s side trailing league leaders Napoli by 18 points.

Appearing on Italian television broadcaster Sky Sport Italia earlier today, and as reported by Inter-News.it, Marchegiani was unimpressed with how the Nerazzurri took to the pitch and felt that they deserved to lose the game.

“Without claiming to know things I don’t know, the feeling I have watching Inter is that they are now putting the focus on the cups,” the 56-year-old argued.

“The team attitude is too different, today it was embarrassing from a certain point of view. Ugly. Inzaghi can’t pick and choose right now because he wants to get Lukaku back but the response he gives is not Dzeko. He played badly today.”

Marchegiani suggested that the five changes to the team made from the Champions League win over Porto on Wednesday were not the problem, particularly due to the quality of the squad, but rather the attitude of the team.

“The changes are not to be seen only negatively because it’s often thanks to those you win, the problem is the attitude of the team. The goals they concede, a strong team like Inter cannot let them in. The goal conceded today against Bologna can’t happen, there can’t not be an inkling of danger.

“However, I can’t see that if Brozovic plays instead of Barella it compromises Inter’s performance. We are talking about players who have always played.”

Marchegiani joined Lazio from Torino in 1993 and made 243 appearances for the Aquile, winning the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia twice, and the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.
