Inter are still in the running to sign Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram this summer, despite interest from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

The France international is out of contract in June and has made clear to Gladbach his intentions to leave as a free agent, sparking a race across Europe for his signature.

Writing in an editorial for Tuttomercatoweb, Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini revealed that the Nerazzurri are still a genuine option for Thuram for next season, even with the competition from some of Europe’s most wealthy clubs.

“Not only defence but also very specific choices in attack. Inter will have to reflect concretely on Lukaku’s future in the spring,” Ceccarini wrote.

“It won’t be the only topic on the table, given that if an offer were to arrive, Correa could also leave. And so, in order to have any alternatives ready, the Nerazzurri’s tour continues.

“The first big goal remains Marcus Thuram. The French striker has been on Inter’s radar for a long time but now the opportunity is great given that he has chosen not to renew with Borussia Monchengladbach.

“The Nerazzurri are in the running despite competition from top European clubs. Bayern Munich showed up in January without completing the deal. Barcelona, Atletico, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also following the evolution of the situation.”

Meanwhile, Ceccarini revealed that Inter had a target in mind as they seek defensive reinforcements, particularly with centre-back Milan Skriniar expected to leave the club as a free agent to join PSG at the end of the season, and were monitoring Tiago Djalo.

“Inter are aware that it will be very complicated to replace Skriniar and for this reason they don’t want to make a mistake.

“In Italy one of the solutions remains Becao from Udinese but it is clear that Marotta and Ausilio are also evaluating other profiles abroad. A name (in addition to that of Pavard) to monitor is Djalo of Lille.”

Skriniar joined Inter from Sampdoria in 2017 but has decided against his renewing his contract with the club, making him available as a free agent in the summer.
