Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has come in for criticism from Italian journalist Stefano De Grandis after his display in the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 defeat to Bologna in Serie A earlier today.

The Argentina international started the match at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara but struggled to get into the game despite playing the full 90 minutes, as Inter fell to a seventh league defeat of the season thanks to a Riccardo Orsolini goal.

Appearing in the studio of Italian television broadcaster Sky Sport Italia to cover the match today, and as reported by L’Interista.it, De Grandis was critical of Martinez and felt that he could not be considered a complete striker as he was too selfish in his play.

“Bologna are close to the European spots, play football well and put Inter in difficulty especially in the first half,” De Grandis claimed.

“I still think that Lautaro Martinez is a great striker but he thinks of himself. When he scores goals he is great, but I prefer a complete striker who knows how to play with the team, he doesn’t do that.”

Meanwhile, the journalist also suggested that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi was not flexible enough and ought to have deviated from his usual tactical set-up, whilst arguing that the Nerazzurri had not shown the correct approach to the match.

“If Inter approach the match well, it’s fine and they follow the expected set-up. If Inter start badly, they never change their strategy, they always stay stuck in a 3-5-2,” he concluded.
