Former Inter defender Francesco Colonnese believes that the Nerazzurri deserved their 1-0 defeat to Bologna in Serie A yesterday after having the wrong attitude.

Inter fell to defeat at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara thanks to a Riccardo Orsolini goal in the second half, in a poor performance that saw them remain 18 points behind league leaders Napoli after 24 games.

In an interview with Italian radio station Radio 24’s Tutti Convocati show yesterday, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, Colonnese suggested that Inter had gone into the game with complacence, expecting a victory that did not come to them.

“It is important to realise the moment and the performance, it was a demonstration of great honesty from the team and Inzaghi. Inter entered the pitch with presumption of winning and the defeat is deserved,” the 51-year-old argued.

Meanwhile, the former Roma and Lazio defender was unimpressed with the manner in which Inter conceded, claiming that it was a growing issue for Simone Inzaghi’s side.

“When Inter lose, they let in goals that cannot be conceded. Today’s goal by Bologna, with the team so open from a 40-metre throw is an error not of tiredness, but of concentration and therefore of the head.”

Colonnese joined Inter from Roma in 1997 and scored twice in 56 appearances before moving on in 2000, winning the UEFA Cup in 1998.
