Legendary former Inter, Real Madrid, Roma, and Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano is extremely doubtful that current Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi will last beyond the end of the current season.
Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, via FCInter1908, the former forward also named current Tottenham Hotspur coach Antonio Conte as the one man who could conceivably make a return and replace the former Lazio coach.
Inzaghi has been facing criticism throughout the current season, and Sunday’s loss to Bologna in Serie A only turned up the pressure on the 46-year-old.
Whilst the coach has continued to have the public backing of the club directors, and some well-timed positive results have given him a lift, there have been rumours that he could well be replaced.
In the view of Cassano, this is very likely, and the one serious candidate to take over from him would be Conte, who previously left Inter in the summer of 2021.
“I’m 99.9% convinced that Inzaghi will leave at the end of the season, unless he wins the Champions League,” the former forward said.
“The only man that I would see to replace him would be Conte,” he added.
