Inter’s shock loss away to Bologna yesterday evening seemed to confirm that the Nerazzurri are at serious risk of having the away trip to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara become a true bogey fixture for them.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who suggest that the team could be developing a mental block as evidenced by lacklustre displays and sloppy errors when facing Bologna away in Serie A.

Inter will want to do everything they can to forget last season’s away match against Bologna.

Having originally been scheduled as the team’s first match back from the winter break, the fixture was instead moved to mid-April due to a COVID-related postponement.

Having been the Nerazzurri’s game in hand over city rivals AC Milan for weeks, the team had hoped that they could beat the Rossoblu in Emilia-Romagna in order to decisively put themselves in pole position for the Serie A title.

Instead, Inter lost the match, throwing away an early 1-0 lead with a performance that started to lack conviction as the match wore on after a positive start.

A late howler which saw goalkeeper Andrei Radu slip and miscontrol the ball for an easy finish by Bologna’s Nicola Sansone condemned the Nerazzurri to an embarrassing defeat in a must-win match.

If yesterday’s performance at the same stadium was anything to go by, Inter are still haunted by the way that last April’s clash went.

Inter put in one of their worst displays of the season, deservedly losing 1-0 on the afternoon.

This time around, it was defender D’Ambrosio who was at fault rather than Onana, with a misplaced pass gifting the ball to Riccardo Orsolini who scored the match’s only goal.

Now it looks as though Inter will have two awful nights to put behind them when they next travel to the Dall’Ara to face Bologna, and if yesterday’s performance was any indication, banishing the feeling that this is a bogey fixture will not be a simple undertaking.
