Inter are lacking a player to create chances in tight matches and cannot rely on Joaquin Correa, according to Italian journalist Paolo Assegna.

The Nerazzurri fell to a 1-0 defeat to Bologna in Serie A yesterday and looked to be lacking in inspiration at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, as Riccardo Orsolini’s goal settled the points for the hosts and condemned Inter to a seventh league defeat of the campaign.

Appearing in the studio of Italian television broadcaster Sky Sport Italia yesterday, and as reported by Inter-News.it, journalist Assegna argued that Correa was not good enough to make the difference for the Nerazzurri, and they ought to have signed Paulo Dybala before he joined Roma last summer.

Meanwhile, Assegna felt that coach Simone Inzaghi was lacking the ability to change the direction of tough matches.

“Seven defeats is a lot. The lack of focus and the points lost against smaller teams tell us that at the level of management of certain moments the coach still has to grow,” Assegna said.

“The character of the team is that of the coach: to me they seem to be a team that become predictable when the pace drops, very flat especially in the league. In the cups you can’t tell them anything.

“When there is no intensity, they lack someone with quality. It should have been Correa, but these last few years have shown that he is a player of a much lower level than Angel Di Maria and Paulo Dybala.”

Correa has struggled for form and fitness this season and has only scored three goals in 25 appearances in all competitions.
