Inter striker Lautaro Martinez was the first person to admit that a lot of work is needed by the team if they’re to bounce back from yesterday’s shock Serie A defeat to Bologna, and the Argentine was as culpable as anyone for the result.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-bassed newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who note the importance of the Argentine’s focus on the team pushing themselves to get out of their slump in his post-match remarks.

Despite the fact that Martinez had not begun yesterday’s match with the captain’s armband, he once again showed himself to be a leader figure in the team during good times and bad by facing the media after the match.

The 25-year-old apologized to the fans, and suggested that the team are restless and frustrated after the result and must redirect those feelings into hard work.

For the Corriere, Martinez was far from his best just as his teammates were, as he hardly made an impact in the final third.

The striker’s poor display was a factor in the Nerazzurri’s performance as a team, and his words after the match suggested that he wants to be just as much of a factor but in a more positive sense as the team aim to bounce back.
