Inter and Chelsea will sit down to negotiate a prospective extension of striker Romelu Lukaku’s loan during the spring.
This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the two clubs will be open to negotiating a further paid loan deal for the Belgian to stay in Milan, although the Nerazzurri are set to ask for a lower fee than the one for the loan from last summer.
Lukaku’s future at Inter past the end of the current season is far from certain, as underlined by the words of CEO Beppe Marotta yesterday, who made clear that the 29-year-0ld will be sent back to Chelsea and then it will remain to be seen what the clubs agree.
According to the Gazzetta, the striker has no plans other than to stay at Inter past the end of the season, whilst Chelsea do not consider him to be a part of their plans and would be amenable to negotiating another loan.
However, given that the Nerazzurri are set to seek a discount compared to the loan fee from last summer, it will remain to be seen if they can convince the Blues with an offer when the negotiations resume.
