Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti has completely brushed off any suggestion that the Nerazzurri could be interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi.

Speaking to the Spanish edition of broadcaster ESPN in a video released on Twitter, the Nerazzurri Vice-President jokingly remarked that a player like Messi would hardly be an attainable given the Nerazzurri’s financial constraints.

Inter have occasionally been linked with signing Messi in the past, including when it became clear that the Argentine would be leaving Barcelona in the summer of 2021 when he eventually made the switch to PSG.

The fact that the 35-year-old is the same nationality as Inter Vice-President Zanetti has perhaps been one of the main reason for the persistent of the transfer rumours.

However, given his status as one of the best players in the world, Messi would certainly command high wages, whilst Inter’s priority remains to stay disciplined in terms of their wage bill.

Asked about the PSG forward, Zanetti replied with a laugh that “I think it would be very complicated, he might be a bit expensive for us.”
