Inter coach Simone Inzaghi cannot avoid the consequences if he fails to guide the team to a top four finish in Serie A this season, despite the continued faith of the club directors.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri coach may still have the faith of CEO Beppe Marotta at least publicly, but that this patience would quickly run out if the team do not secure Champions League football for next season.

Yesterday, Inter CEO Marotta made clear that Inzaghi still has the trust of the club.

According to the Corriere, the CEO’s words reflected the actual standpoint of the club, which is to continue to back the coach.

However, there is no question that finishing top four in the Serie A table is considered to be the absolute bare minimum objective.

Accordingly, if the team were to fail to meet this goal, then it would become difficult to see Inzaghi remaining in post.
