Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio feels that it can potentially be too easy to blame Inter coach Simone Inzaghi for the team’s bad form, and that the players should also take their share of the blame.

Speaking on air for Sky, via FCInter1908, Di Marzio gave his thoughts on who should be held responsible for the Nerazzurri’s frustrating recent run of results, calling for balance between blaming the coach and the players.

Inter have been in erratic form for some time, and a lot of the blame has been put at the feet of Inzaghi.

As the man responsible for making tactical decisions both before and during the match as well as judgments about the fitness and form of the players, it is natural that the 46-year-old has often been the one in the line of fire when the team have been below par.

However, from the point of view of Di Marzio, it is important to understand how the players also contribute to the team’s problems.

“The blame is almost always put mainly on the coach when things are going badly, but excuses are made for the players when this is the case,” he argued.

“It can be a matter of concentration, attention to detail, focus,” he said of what needs to be shown by the players, “these are all qualities that were clearly evident against Porto, in the Supercoppa against AC Milan, in the win against Napoli.”

“Now the team have to find them again in the other matches as well,” he argued.
