Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella is set to return to the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven for this weekend’s Serie A clash against Lecce at the San Siro.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 26-year-old will replace Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the starting eleven for the match, whilst Inter are hoping to have both Milan Skriniar and Federico Dimarco back as well.
Barella did not start Sunday’s Serie A loss against Bologna, the second league match this season that the former Cagliari midfielder did not start.
However, the 26-year-old is set to start alongside Marcelo Brozovic and Hakan Calhanoglu next Sunday, with Mkhitaryan finally dropping to the bench following a long run of starts.
Meanwhile, it is yet to be seen whether defender Skriniar and wingback Dimarco will be available against Lecce.
Should the former be out, then one of Matteo Darmian or Danilo D’Ambrosio should start on the right side of the back three, whilst Robin Gosens could start at left-wingback again if the latter is missing.
