Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard has made clear that he never asked to leave his club to join Inter despite transfer links during the January window.

Speaking to German broadcaster Sport1, via FCInter1908, the 26-year-old stated that he’s happy at Bayern and never asked for a move away.

Pavard was one of the main names linked with Inter during the January transfer window when it looked as though Milan Skriniar could be sold to Paris Saint-Germain and would need to be replaced.

There were reports that the Frenchman would be willing to accept a transfer, and would even welcome it.

Moreover, Pavard’s current contract with Bayern runs out at the end of June 2024, and there have been some reports that the 2018 World Cup winner is reluctant to agree a new deal which could be a factor that makes him likely to leave this summer.

However, for his part, the player has poured some cold water on the transfer rumours.

“I’m not the type to leave midway through the season,” Pavard said.

“My goal was definitely always to stay at Bayern,” he continued.

The defender stated that “I’m determined to give everything for the club and the team, and I want to win as many titles as possible with Bayern.”

Asked about his future, the Frenchman stated that “I never said that I wanted to leave.”

“I know very well that I’m at a top club, and whether it’s the team, the coaching staff, the physios, the atmosphere here is great.”

“I feel very comfortable here,” Pavard said of playing for the German champions, “I like the club and the fans, and I hope we can do something great this season.”
