Inter have a number of decisions to make regarding the future of several players in the squad whose contracts are currently set to run out at the end of the season, and some are likely to stay whilst others should depart.

This is detailed by Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the coming months will be important ones for the Nerazzurri as they seek to make their decisions regarding a number of current squad members’ contracts.

Striker Edin Dzeko’s contract runs out at the end of June, and the 36-year-old has yet to make a decision about his future.

The former Roma and Manchester City striker is the subject of interest from clubs in Major League Soccer, which would be worth more than the Nerazzurri are offering the player to stay, but would also require a commitment to a major change of scenery from the Bosnian.

Another Inter player whose contract runs out at the end of June is Stefan de Vrij.

The former Lazio and Feyenoord defender has not made a definitive decision, although on Inter’s part there is optimism that he will decide to stay and sign a new deal.

Meanwhile, de Vrij’s fellow defender Francesco Acerbi is only at Inter on loan until the end of the current season from Lazio, and the Nerazzurri will have to convince the Bianconeri on a permanent deal for him.

For their part, Inter would definitely like to make Acerbi’s signing permanent, but they also want to negotiate a lower fee than the €4 million purchase option in the 35-year-old’s loan move from Lazio.

Another player currently only on loan at Inter is Raoul Bellanova.

The Nerazzurri would consider the €7 million purchase option in the wingback’s loan deal from Cagliari to be too high, but according to the Gazzetta it is hardly a foregone conclusion that he will return to the Rossoblu at the end of the season.

The final player currently on loan at Inter is Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Nerazzurri would consider negotiating a new paid loan deal for the Belgian with the Blues, but it very much remains to be seen whether they will be able to find an agreement with the Premier League club.

Meanwhile, Inter captain Samir Handanovic and veteran defender Danilo D’Ambrosio are two players whose current contracts run out at the end of June.

The pair are both key figures in the locker room.

According to the Gazzetta, the fate of negotiations towards prospective new contracts with both of the pair are set to depend on how the rest of the current season goes.

More certainty can be found regarding the futures of wingback Dalbert and midfielder Roberto Gagaliardini, both of whom are virtually certain to leave Inter at the end of the current season.

Lastly, the Gazzetta notes, midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu’s current contract does not expire at the end of the current season, and rather runs out at the end of June 2024.

However, the Nerazzurri have not wanted to waste any time in negotiations with the 31-year-old, and according to the Gazzetta, only the signatures and the announcement remain before the former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen man commits his future.
