The Mayor of the Rozzano commune has denied that there have been contacts with Inter already regarding a new stadium, but noted that he’s open to the idea.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Sportiva, via FCInterNews, Rozzano Mayor Ferretti De Luca made clear that as of yet he has not discussed any possible new stadium to be built in the area with Inter, despite reports suggesting that the Nerazzurri are looking at the commune.

The Nerazzurri look likely to have to find alternative plans after city rivals AC Milan are reportedly close to abandoning the plans to build a new stadium in place of San Siro.

Rozzano is an area not far from Milan, and in the past couple days reports have emerged linking it as a possible site for Inter to build a new stadium on their own.

Reports have suggested that Inter have already discussed the idea, although the commune’s Mayor denies this.

“I don’t know if Inter are looking at building anywhere within our area, I haven’t had any contacts with them of any kind, and, as far as I know, nor have any of the owners of the land on which they could potentially build.”

“The idea of building Rozzano stems from the strategic potential of the area, because there is access via a metro, a highway, and ring roads nearby, but that’s just my idea,” he continued.

De Luca continued that “I would be very willing to talk about it, but, I repeat, we haven’t received anything from them.”

He added that “I’m an Inter fan and I’d be happy to have them here, but I’m a servant of the city and therefore I’d also welcome Milan, both would be welcome.”
