Empoli coach Paolo Zanetti still has full faith in Inter-owned striker Martin Satriano despite the fact that the 21-year-old has not had a good season in front of goal.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of his side’s Serie A match against Monza tomorrow, via FCInterNews, the coach noted that from his perspective Satriano has looked good in training, and that he expects the goals to come sooner or later.

If Satriano had joined Empoli on loan in the summer in the hopes of really making his mark in Serie A after impressing in half a season on loan at Brest over the second half of last campaign, things have not quite worked out that way.

Whilst there have been plenty of flashes of the Uruguayan’s quality in terms of his linkup play and overall game, he has failed to find the back of the net in the last six months.

However, the player’s coach Zanetti gave the view that “He’s a centre-forward, it’s to be expected that he wants to score, but I have to stress that he’s a useful striker even when he doesn’t score.”

“I’m convinced it’s only a matter of time, I’ve seen great progress in training from him,” the coach added.

“This makes me believe that he’s still on the right track forward,” he concluded.
