Former Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni feels that Bologna coach Thiago Motta did a very good job with his tactics in the midfield battle against Inter last Sunday.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, the coach praised the Rossoblu coach for setting his team up to restrict the Nerazzurri from getting a foothold in possession.
Inter were far from their best at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara on Sunday afternoon, with their ineffectual display in possession a big part of the reason why.
The Nerazzurri lacked fluency as they attempted to string their passes together, as there rarely seemed to be an Inter player available in space when they looked to play the ball.
For Stramaccioni’s part, the former coach feels that this was down to how Bologna coach Motta approached the midfield battle, as his team had the right shape to restrict the Nerazzurri’s technically proficient central players.
“I was really impressed by how Motta approached that match,” he said.
“Inter have midfielders who are excellent in possession, but Bologna really shut them down and prevented them from getting in the game.”
