Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is close to signing a contract extension with the Nerazzurri that will see him stay until the end of June 2027.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the 29-year-old is set to earn around €6 million net per season for the duration of his new contract with the club.

Calhanoglu has not yet put pen to paper on a new contract, but Inter have been meeting with his agent Gordon Stipic over the past few weeks.

The club’s aim has been to move along quickly in negotiations to reach an agreement, and the trajectory of the talks has been very positive.

According to the Gazzetta, now only the signatures and the official announcement are needed before the midfielder’s new deal will be made official.

Calhanoglu’s current contract is set to run out at the end of June 2024, but the club will hand the Turkish international a deal until the end of June 2027, showing their faith in the player’s future as the player will be 33 when the contract runs out.

As the Gazzetta notes, the new contract is a sign that Inter are aiming to build their midfield for the next few seasons around Calhanoglu and his teammate Nicolo Barella.
