Inter will only look to sign a starting-quality midfielder in the summer transfer window in the event that Marcelo Brozovic leaves the club.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Croat’s departure would be a prerequisite for the Nerazzurri to pursue a midfielder like Barcelona’s Franck Kessie or Valencia’s Yunus Musah.

What is relatively certain is that Inter will bring in at least one midfielder during the summer window, to take the place of Roberto Gagliardini who is set to leave on a free transfer.

That signing will only be a low-cost transfer, however, whilst Tuttosport notes that young midfielder Giovanni Fabbian could be recalled to the first team to replace Gagliardini.

However, in the event that Brozovic is also sold, Inter would look to sign another midfielder of a higher quality.

The likes of Kessie and Musah are among the Nerazzurri’s main targets in this event.
