Inter wingback Robin Gosens feels that this evening’s win over Lecce was particularly important given some of the other results in Serie A this weekend.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, via FCInterNews, the 28-year-old gave his immediate reaction to the match, also emphasizing that he’s only focused on the Nerazzurri as far as his future.
Gosens started his second consecutive match for the Nerazzurri, and he put in a good shift down the team’s left flank to help secure what was a comfortable win in the end against a tough Lecce side.
The Nerazzurri were able to capitalize on dropped points by AC Milan and Atalanta, whilst they also made sure that they regained their advantage over Lazio in the table following the Biancocelesti’s win over Napoli at the start of the round.
Roma will also be feeling the pressure heading into their match against Juventus as far as Inter’s top four rivals go, and even Napoli could be aware that slip-ups like their loss on Friday can be punished.
“This match saw an Inter who were really up for it, we showed a great desire to win right away,” Gosens said afterwards.
“It was a vital match, particularly looking at some of the other results this weekend,” he continued.
The German called it “A well-deserved win.”
Of his own performance, Gosens said that “I’m doing well, I have match-fitness so I’m doing well at every level, it was a great evening.”
The former Atalanta wingback described that applause from the San Siro as “A great feeling, it was my first time starting in the league here.”
“I’m happy for myself and also for the team, this was a win that we needed after this week.”
“After the Bologna match, we got together and we spoke frankly with each other, we told ourselves we had to shut up and work,” the German made clear.
“That’s the only way to win matches in Serie A, this was the result of our work.”
“I wanted to show I can suffer on the pitch, and not come off, I need consistency to continue to get better,” Gosens said.
And of his future, the German said “Only Inter.”c
