Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi has earned himself a bit of breathing room with the reaction that his team showed to beat Lecce yesterday evening, but nothing more than that.
This is the verdict in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who argue that there will be many factors that ultimately decide the 46-year-old’s future at the Nerazzurri.
Inzaghi found some significant pressure piled on him following his team’s dismal 1-0 loss away to Bologna.
The speculation about the former Lazio coach’s future as Nerazzurri boss has never been too far away, and another setback like that in the league was always likely to make it louder.
Inter’s performance against Lecce was that of a disciplined and organized team, not one who were still mentally bogged down and demoralized by the Bologna loss.
Accordingly, the atmosphere around Inzaghi and the Nerazzurri has now calmed down significantly compared to the borderline panic following the defeat in Emilia-Romagna.
However, this calm is only temporary, notes the Gazzetta.
Further important matches are on the way with little time to rest or become complacent, and so it won’t be too long before Inzaghi either builds on yesterday’s 2-0 Serie A win to really reassert control, or throws it all away.
