Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has been named as his team’s outstanding performer in a routine 2-0 win over Lecce in Serie A yesterday evening.

The Argentine received a 7/10 score in the player ratings for the match published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who praised his battling performance but also argued that fellow striker Romelu Lukaku looked off the pace.

Martinez scored Inter’s second goal of the evening to wrap up the win against Lecce, but this was only one part of the 25-year-old’s contribution.

The striker showed why he has increasingly become a leader for this Inter team on the pitch, ass his tireless running and intelligence set the tone for the team not to get overrun by Lecce, in the view of the Gazzetta.

When Lukaku came off the bench for Martinez in the second half, however, the newspaper argue that the Belgian hardly had any effect on the match.

Lukaku received a score of just 5.5/10 from the Gazzetta, the lowest for any Inter player in yesterday’s match.
