Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone feels that his team were hurt by the fact that Inter were able to prevent them from getting any joy on the counterattack in yesterday’s Serie A match.
Speaking in a press conference after the match, as reported by FCInterNews, the 27-year-old stressed the significance of the Nerazzurri’s tactical approach to handling their threat on the break.
Lecce have been a team who have proven themselves able to get results even against top opposition on their first season back in the Italian top flight.
A key aspect of this has been the Puglian team’s quality at breaking quickly when they win back possession of the ball.
However, Inter were able to prevent Lecce from looking dangerous or creating situations of numerical superiority on the occasions when they lost possession of the ball, and from Falcone’s perspective, this was the aspect that ultimately lost them the match.
“Normally we’re very good at taking advantage of team’s mistakes on the counter, this time around we were unable to get going in that respect,” he continued.
“They made it difficult for us, and they were able to hurt us on the counter,” Falcone noted.
