A return to the bench for former coach Antonio Conte could be the best way for Inter striker Romelu Lukaku to finally get back to his best form in a Nerazzurri shirt.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who list getting the best out of the Belgian as one of the key reasons why a Conte return could be significant for Inter.

The transfer rumour mill has never really stopped spinning with regards to Conte, with reports suggesting that the 53-year-old coach could decide to leave Tottenham Hotspur and return to Serie A at the end of the season.

Whilst a lot would have to happen for the coach to wind up back at Inter given that Simone Inzaghi is still firmly in post, if the current coach were to find his position under threat then Conte could be one of the first names on the club’s list to take his place.

Whilst there would certainly be good and bad aspects to the former Juventus, Italy, and Chelsea coach coming back to coach Inter once again, the most tempting for the Nerazzurri could be his understanding with Lukaku.

The 29-year-old has underwhelmed so far in his third season with the club, never really looking like the player he did whilst coached by Conte, and for this reason, the 53-year-old’s return could be exactly the spark needed to get the striker back to his best.
