Former AC Milan defender Luca Antonini feels that a derby match against Inter would be special for the Rossoneri, but that the teams need to not get ahead of themselves as they’ve not yet reached the quarterfinals.

Speaking to reporters outside the Junior Tim Cup, via FCInterNews, Antonini gave his thoughts on the possibility that the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri could potentially meet in Europe’s top club competition given their current positions.

Milan face Tottenham Hotspur in the second leg of their Champions League round of sixteen tie tomorrow evening, whilst Inter will face Porto in the second leg of their own tie next week.

Both of the two city rivals carry a slender 1-0 win into the second leg of their respective ties.

This has led both of the pair to start to dream of a place in the last eight of the competition, and has also led to one or two suggestion that they could well be drawn against one another in the next round or beyond.

Antonini touched on this, stating that “It would be great to see the two teams meet in Europe, but right now both still need to reach the quarterfinals.”
