Former AC Milan, Juventus, Real Madrid, and England coach Fabio Capello feels that it’s not too surprising to see Inter ahead of his old side the Rossoneri.

Speaking to the Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, the former coach suggested that based on their squad, the Nerazzurri were his preseason prediction to win the Serie A title.

Whilst Napoli are now well clear at the top of the Serie A title, still fifteen points ahead of second-place Inter despite losing to Lazio on Friday, the teams behind them are fairly closely-bunched.

Inter currently sit three points ahead of city rivals AC Milan, who had won the Serie A title last time around by an even smaller margin, though neither are particularly close to the Partneopei at the top of the table.

Asked if he is surprised to see Inter now ahead of their city rivals, Capello replied that “Given the respective quality of their squads, it seems very logical to me that Inzaghi’s team would be further ahead.”

Of the race for top four, he said that “Inter were my preseason favourites for the title, so I’d put them ahead of the others.”

“Then there’s a big scrap between the rest of the teams, it seems to be a question of who is going to be the least inconsistent.”
