Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi believes that, despite the rumours that have recently linked former Inter coach with a return to the Nerazzurri, there is little to the idea.

Reporting in a video on his YouTube channel, Barzaghi explained that as far as he can tell, it would be quite implausible for the 53-year-old current Tottenham Hotspur coach to re-join Inter for a number of reasons, not least his prospective wages.

Conte’s name has emerged as a possible link to Inter over the past couple of days.

As has persistently been the case since he joined Tottenham, the former Nerazzurri, Juventus, Italy, and Chelsea coach has been linked with a possible exit from his club at the end of the season.

The rumours have suggested that Conte is keen on a return to Serie A, and in this case Inter could be one of the main possible destinations particularly considering the somewhat uncertain situation of Simone Inzaghi in the dugout.

However, journalist Barzaghi’s understanding of the situation is that this would still be fairy unlikely.

“It’s hard to see there having been contact with Marotta and Ausilio, they had a falling out after the Europa League and he came very close to leaving then already,” he said.

“This rift was only ever really partly mended by Steven Zhang.”

“It also strikes me as unlikely that they would plan a sporting project around him with so much uncertainty on the future,” he added.

“The kind of project that would have to be built around him, between the signings they’d need not to mention his wages, it would be expensive for them to put it mildly.”

Barzaghi made clear his view that these rumours are “Just fluff.”
