The head of Inter’s youth academy Roberto Samaden is set to step down from his role at the end of the season, but he will leave behind quite the legacy from his time at the Nerazzurri.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who note that the 56-year-old has overseen the Nerazzurri winning a total of sixteen youth team trophies in addition to bringing several important players through the ranks.

Inter have been the most successful team in Italian youth team football over the period that Samaden has been in his position, a fact which the current head of the academy can take a great deal of credit for.

Moreover, the players who Samaden has brought through have proven to be a key resource for the Nerazzurri.

Wingback Federico Dimarco has been a highly visible success story, ass the 25-year-old is now a regular in Inter’s starting eleven, having developed over years in the academy and out on loan spells before coming back as a reliable and loyal player with a strong connection to the club.

Meanwhile, young midfielder Cesare Casadei was sold to Chelsea on a big fee for a teenager without any senior football under his belt last summer.

Now, it is Giovanni Fabbian who is shining out on loan with Reggina in Serie B, with the 19-year-old having been one of the jewels of Inter’s Primavera team last season alongside Casadei.
