Legendary former Inter, Roma, Real Madrid, and Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano feels that Robin Gosens looked like the player who the Nerazzurri signed from Atalanta with his performance against Lecce on Sunday.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, via L’Interista, Cassano praised the German for his performances in the 2-0 Serie A win, whilst he also gave the view that Lautaro Martinez could easily hit 25 goals.

Gosens arrived at Inter with significant expectations around him, based on the quality of his performances for Atalanta as well as for the German national team.

However, the 28-year-old has rarely looked like quite the same player he always had for La Dea in an Inter shirt, whilst the likes of Ivan Perisic and then Federico Dimarco have tended to keep him out of the starting eleven.

From Cassano’s perspective, however, Gosens looked something like back to his best with his display against Lecce.

“Finally after more than a year, I saw a really high-level match from him,” he said of the German.

“Lots of running, intensity, and devastating quality, that was the form he showed at Atalanta,” he continued.

“I’m happy for him.”

Of striker Martinez, Cassano said that “Every Sunday Lautaro scores goals, for me he can reach 25 this season.”

“Now I expect him to do more for the national team, it was too easy for Alvarez to get into the starting eleven ahead of him.”

“But he’s a player who, unlike Leao for example, always gives you a performance, he fights, he has character, though needs something more to become one of the top five strikers in the world,” Cassano added.
