The Lega Serie A is considering the idea of adding a round of fixtures to the league schedule at the end of December in the upcoming Serie A season.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews, who report that one of the proposals being considered by the Lega would be for a change to the league fixture list which would see teams return to action in December rather than January.
At present, the winter break for Serie A teams that begins not long before Christmas does not see the teams return to action until the start of January.
This has always been customary for the Italian top flight, but is in contrast to the way that things are done in the Premier League, where teams return as early as the day after Christmas.
Things could change somewhat, however, as according to Corriere della Sera, the Lega are considering the idea of putting the return from the winter break on December 30 instead.
