Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is ahead of Edin Dzeko in the running to start in attack alongside Lautaro Martinez in Friday evening’s Serie A match away to Spezia.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, who report that it is looking likely that the Belgian will return to the starting eleven after having been a substitute against Lecce in Sunday’s Serie A win at the San Siro.
Whilst there is little doubt that Martinez is considered a starter at Inter now, there is some uncertainty regarding which of Lukaku or Dzeko is considered his first-choice partner in attack.
Dzeko has started recent matches against Porto in the Champions League and Lecce in Serie A, whilst Lukaku came off the bench to score the winner against Porto and also started against Bologna in the league.
According to Mediaset, it will be Lukaku who is favoured to start alongside Martinez for the Nerazzurri’s away trip to Liguria later this week.
