Inter captain Samir Handanovic is set to start in tomorrow evening’s Serie A match away to Spezia.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, who report that the 38-year-old will be back in goal for the away trip to Liguria, with Andre Onana set to be rested in view of next week’s Champions League round of sixteen second leg against Porto.
Handanovic has dropped out of the first-choice starting eleven at Inter this season, with Onana not taking long to establish himself as the main option in goal after his arrival from Ajax last summer.
However, the Slovenian returned to the starting eleven for the Nerazzurri’s Serie A match against Udinese last month, with Onana rested ahead of the first leg of the round of sixteen tie against Porto in the Champions League.
The Cameroonian looks set to be rested ahead of the second leg as well, according to Mediaset.
The broadcaster reports that it will be Handanovic who starts in goal against Spezia tomorrow.
