Spezia wingback Kelvin Amian is hoping that he and his teammates can repeat last season’s giant-killing exploits by getting an upset result against Inter in tomorrow’s Serie A match.

Speaking to Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, the 25-year-old noted that the Ligurian team were able to defeat the likes of Napoli and AC Milan last campaign, but have yet to get that big of a scalp this time around.

On paper, Spezia will be a team who Inter are expected to beat.

However, this will also have been the case when Milan and Napoli headed into Serie A matches against the Ligurians last season.

This Spezia team proved their quality and determination to procure shock results against both the Rossoneri and the Partenopei last time around.

This will be one of the reasons why Inter aren’t going to be too complacent heading into tomorrow’s match, whilst from the Spezia players’ perspective they offer a benchmark as to why they can always hope to take a result.

“Last season we beat Napoli and Milan,” Amian noted, “whereas this season we’ve yet to get a result against the big teams.”

“We’ll have to fight for every ball and not show any ball, we need to show our quality and our character,” he added.

Of his potential matchup with Robin Gosens on the flank, the Frenchman noted that “When you prepare for matches like this, you know that every player on the other team is going to be absolutely top-class.”
