Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that it will be important for the Nerazzurri to put their poor recent record in away matches in Serie A behind them this evening against Spezia.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, the 34-year-old stressed that the team have to give everything to prove that they can get the result they need at a tough away stadium at the Stadio Alberto Picco.

Throughout this season, it has become something of a theme that the Nerazzurri are a force to be reckoned with when playing at the San Siro, but that their form becomes erratic on their away trips.

This has certainly been the case in recent weeks, where home wins against the likes of AC Milan, Udinese, and Lecce have alternated with a draw away to Sampdoria, and a loss to Bologna in their last away match.

The Nerazzurri return to Liguria where they drew against Sampdoria, facing Spezia in front of the relegation-battlers’ own fans, and they will know that this promises to be another challenging evening, and one where they’ll have to prove that they can reproduce their San Siro form.

“We know that we haven’t been up to par in recent away matches, but this has to be another opportunity for us to show that we can put in a performance even away from home,” Mkhitaryan said.

“We have to do everything we can to win, and to give ourselves confidence before our match away in Porto,” he added.
