Spezia midfielder Salvatore Esposito feels that he will always be grateful to Inter for the role that they played in his development, although his focus this evening will only be on his current team as they come up against the Nerazzurri.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of this evening’s match, as reported by FCInterNews, the 22-year-old also gave his thoughts on the progress of his two younger brothers Sebastiano and Francesco Pio, also Inter youth academy graduates.

Esposito will come up against a team whose youth ranks he came through in the form of Inter this evening.

The midfielder really emerged within the senior game at SPAL in Serie B, with his performances catching the eye of clubs in the top flight.

It was Spezia who decided to bring the 22-year-old to Serie A in the January transfer window, where the former Nerazzurri academy graduate is now trying to make an impression.

“I have wonderful memories of Inter,” Esposito said.

“Coming through the ranks at the best youth academy in Italy was something that gave me a lot of satisfaction,” he continued, “I won the Scudetto at youth levels, I met people who gave me a lot on a personal level, like director Samaden , coach Zanchetta, and coach Cauet.”

“I will always be grateful to Inter, also on behalf of the whole Esposito family, they’ve given us special, once-in-a-lifetime moments like Sebastiano’s debut in Serie A and in the Champions League,” Esposito said.

“They’ll be a part of me forever,” he reflected.

Of his brother Sebastiano, the Spezia midfielder said that “I was so excited when he made his debut against Borussia Dortmund, I was there at San Siro and it was like I was on the pitch with him.”

“When he got the ball, I was making the movements as though I was passing the ball to.”

And of his younger brother Francesco Pio, Esposito said that “I give him advice for off the pitch, and for everything else he has to listen to those around him at Inter, who know how to help him grow.”

“He has the potential and quality to become a professional, but it’s up to him and he doesn’t need too much pressure,” the midfielder suggest of his younger brother.
