Spezia head coach Leonardo Semplici feels that his team’s Serie A victory over Inter was fully deserved.

Speaking in a press conference after the match, as reported by FCInterNews, the 55-year-old coach noted that his team had to dig in and suffer, but that the result was the right one despite their having less of the possession.

Spezia had no lack of motivation going into yesterday evening’s match at the Stadio Alberto Picco, and their performance reflected that fact.

The Aquilotti had to throw themselves in the way of everything and fight from the first whistle to the last, even scoring very late on, in order to give themselves three priceless points in the Serie A relegation battle.

From Semplici’s perspective, it was no smash-and-grab, however, as the coach feels that they did more than enough to take the points against a team who were superior only on paper.

“You have to have the courage to play your football in these matches,” he said after the match.

“Inter are a very strong team, and they made us suffer, but we deserve the win.”

“Now we can’t become complacent,” the Aquilotti coach added, “we have to take confidence from this result.”
