Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic will be benched in tomorrow evening’s Champions League round of sixteen second leg match away to Porto.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInter1908, who report that Hakan Calhanoglu will start at the base of the midfield trio alongside Nicolo Barella and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and that Brozovic will start on the bench.

Brozovic started in Friday’s Serie A loss away to Spezia, but the 30-year-old has not yet regained his place as an automatic starter in midfield.

The trio of Calhanoglu, Barella, and Mkhitaryan had become first-choice in Brozovic’s absence, and according to Mediaset, it is that trio which Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is set to go with from the start tomorrow in Porto.

Meanwhile, in attack Mediaset report that Edin Dzeko is the favourite to start over Romelu Lukaku.

There is virtually no doubt that Lautaro Martinez will start the match, but the broadcaster report that it is the Bosnian rather than the Belgian who should start alongside him.
