Chelsea and Bayern Munich have dropped out of the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram on a free transfer this summer, with Inter still very much hoping to being in the 25-year-old.

This according to German broadcaster Sky Sports Deutschland, via FCInterNews, who report that both of the two European giants’ interest in Thuram has cooled significantly, having previously been considering him a target.

Thuram’s future is clearly not at Gladbach after the end of this season, ass the Frenchman is set to leave the club when his contract runs out at the end of June.

Inter have long been targeting the World Cup runner-up, and their interest remains as strong as ever.

However, the success or failure of the Nerazzurri’s pursuit could hinge on which other clubs are in the running.

In this respect, Inter may well have gotten a boost in the form of both Chelsea and Bayern turning their attention to other targets.

Neither of the pair are looking to sign Thuram during the summer window any longer, according to Sky Deustchland.
