Current Hertha Berlin and former Inter, Fiorentina, Manchester City, and Sevilla forward Stevan Jovetic feels that he made a mistake in leaving the Nerazzurri as early as he did.

Speaking to Sky Sport transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio in an interview on the latter’s homepage, the 33-year-old Montenegrin suggested that had he remained at Inter during the 2017-18 season, he could have done well under coach Luciano Spalletti.

After proving his quality in spells with Partizan and Fiorentina, Jovetic made a move to Manchester City in the Premier League in 2013, but after two somewhat underwhelming seasons with the Cityzens, he joined Inter on loan.

After a mixed first season in a Nerazzurri shirt with plenty of positive signs, Jovetic found himself somewhat frozen out over the first half of the 2016-17 season, and he went to Fiorentina on loan in the January transfer window of that season.

In the summer window prior to the 2017-18 campaign, Jovetic joined Monaco on a permanent basis, and then eventually made the switch to his current club Hertha.

The summer what Jovetic left to join Monaco was the same what the current Napoli coach Spalletti was appointed as Inter boss, and the Montegrin feels some regret that he did not stick around long enough to work under the coach.

“In my first season at Inter, I did well, especially in the first part of the season,” the forward noted.

“Then in my season, I don’t know what happened… Mancini, de Boer, Thohir, there were a thousand reasons why it didn’t quite work out.”

“I wasn’t playing and so I joined Sevilla on loan,” he continued.

“It proved to be an excellent decision, but then when I returned I should’ve have just left again immediately,” the 33-year-old looked back.

“After a while, I’m sure that under Spalletti I definitely would have played.”
