Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana has no illusions that this evening’s Champions League round of sixteen second leg against Porto will be anything other than a massive challenge, but he’s prepared for it.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of the match, via FCInterNews, the 26-year-old suggested that he and his teammates must prove that they are worthy of the Nerazzurri shirt against Porto this evening.

Inter managed to get a narrow 1-0 win in the reverse leg against Porto, but that was at the San Siro, and this will be at the Portuguese Champions’ own ground the Estadio do Dragao.

Both teams will be fully motivated, and the quality on both sides is beyond doubt.

Accordingly, it promises to be a match that Inter will have to gut out and suffer through some difficult periods, and show what they’re capable of on the biggest stage.

For his part, goalkeeper Onana believes in this Inter team, and is ready to put everything into it.

“We’re Inter, we’re a great club and we have to show it,” the Cameroonian said.

“I’m calm,” he continued, “we know how important this match is, and we want to prove that we’re up to it.”

“We’ve worked hard to be ready for this.”

Of his sense going into the match, Onana said that “I’m feeling good.”

“We’re facing a top team as an opponent, but we’re Inter,” he went on.

“We need to show courage and character,” he added.

“It won’t be easy, but we’ll give everything.”

Asked if there is any extra motivation in matches of this importance, Onana replied “Yes, having the chance to become a part of the history of this club is an extra motivation.”

“We have to show that we have character and grit, we have to prove that we’re experienced in this competition,” he added.

“I’m feeling calm, this match will be tough but we need to be mentally strong.”
