Legendary former Inter goalkeeper Walter Zenga feels that for all the talk of the Nerazzurri being “in crisis,” they are still in a good position in Serie A.
Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, Zenga went against the current of recent discussions around Inter’s form in the league.
For Inter, it is inevitable that criticism and doubts follow defeats.
Accordingly, when the team suffers damaging losses like those to Bolgna and Spezia in a short space of time, the talk can quickly get ramped up to suggestions that the Nerazzurri are “in crisis.”
From Zenga’s perspective, this is all a bit overblown though.
The former keeper stresses that, for all of the ups and downs that they’ve had recently and throughout the season, the erratic form of other teams behind Napoli means that Inter are still well-placed in the league table.
“Inter have everything that they need to go through [to the next round of the Champions league against Porto], even if at the moment they’re not in the best of form,” Zenga said.
“There’s been talk of the team being in crisis, but then you look at the Serie A table and they’re sitting in second, so I think that’s a little much.”
