Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that the real secret to this Nerazzurri team’s best performances is what they’re capable of when they all sacrifice individually for the greater good of the team.

Speaking to InterTV following the Nerazzurri’s gritty goalless draw away to Porto in the Champions League, via FCInterNews, the 34-year-old emphasized fighting for one another as the extra element that has allowed the Nerazzurri to get results in matches like yesterday’s.

Inter have made a habit of putting in statement performances in some of the biggest matches that they’ve played this season.

A win and a draw against Barcelona in the group stage of the Champions League, victories over Napoli and AC Milan in Serie A, and now a draw away to Porto that was as good as a win on the night have proven the mettle of this Inter team.

From Mkhitaryan’s perspective, this is the pay-off that can come when all the players in the team fight and sacrifice for one another.

Asked what he thinks the “secret” of this Inter team is, the Armenian replied that “When we all play for each other, the results seem to come.”

“It was important for us to play well this evening,” he added, “we needed to show that we’ve learned from some recent mistakes.”

“I want to congratulate my teammates,” Mkhitaryan said, “we fought and suffered together as a team.”

“It wasn’t easy, it was a difficult away ground and a tough pitch to play on, but we deserved to get to the next round,” he added.

“We played a great match defensively, we could have done more going forward, but there was some fatigue.”

“We’ll celebrate this evening, but immediately from tomorrow we’re focusing on Juve, we want to get the result in front of our fans,” Mkhitaryan added.
