Inter are in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, something that seemed all but impossible to imagine when the draw for the group stage of this season’s edition of the competition was made.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who note that the Nerazzurri have had to defy the odds to get to the last eight of Europe’s top club competition, time and time again.

Even before a ball was kicked in anger, many felt that Inter’s chances of reaching the latter stages of the Champions League were dead in the water when they were drawn into a group with Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

The Nerazzurri’s heroics to take four points off of the former defied those doubters, however, and booked their place in the round of sixteen.

Against Porto, it took a lot of intensity and organization on the defensive side of the game, and in the dying moments of stoppage time, a bit of luck as the Portuguese struck the frame of the goal twice.

However, the upshot is that Inter find themselves in the quarterfinals, a position that few had expected for them.
