Inter’s record of spending during the tenures of Antonio Conte and Simone Inzaghi as head coach could hardly be more different.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who note that whereas the Nerazzurri spent around €275 million on players before factoring in sales whilst Conte was in charge, they’ve outlaid just €100 million with Inzaghi at the helm.

Whilst Conte was coach, Inter signed the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Achraf Hakimi, Nicolo Barella, Christian Eriksen, Stefano Sensi, and Valentino Lazaro, all of whom arrived for transfer fees which were hardly insubstantial.

During Inzaghi’s time in charge, by contrast, there has been a much greater focus on free transfers, or signings of players with for very small fees.

Whilst Joaquin Correa and Robin Gosens were signed for €32.6 million and €26.7 million respectively to bolster Inzaghi’s squad, these are the only two players who have actually been signed for fees comparable to most of the signings made for Conte, Tuttosport highlight.
