Former Inter defender Nazzareno Canuti feels that the Nerazzurri have been plagued by inconsistency issues this season.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Magazine Pragma, the former defender gave his thoughts on how the Nerazzurri’s campaign has been going, stressing the inconsistency aspect.

Whilst Inter have had no shortage of positive moments this season, not least the team’s recent qualification for the quarterfinals of the Champions League, the sense has been that another setback has always been around the corner.

This has particularly been the case since the turn of the year, as the Nerazzurri have grabbed important wins over the likes of Napoli, AC Milan, Atalanta, and Porto, interspersed with draws against Monza and Sampdoria, and shock losses to Empoli, Spezia, and Bologna.

Former defender Canuti still continues to follow his old team the Nerazzurri, and feels that this season has simply been too inconsistent from them, particularly against the “smaller” teams.

“The current team aren’t consistent,” he said.

“They’ve dropped too many points against the smaller teams.”

“I believe, and hope, that over the remainder of the season they’ll manage to stay in one of the three spots in the table keeping them in the Champions League,” he added.
