Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has not felt that he’s had the backing he needed from the club directors during the team’s run of poor results in recent weeks.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who claim that the 46-year-old has felt that the club has not protected him from the barrage of criticism and speculation regarding his future that has arrived after recent losses in the league.

After Inter reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League with a draw against Porto on Tuesday, Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta spoke about the criticism that has been received by Inzaghi, labelling it as “unfair.”

However, the Gazzetta notes, Marotta and the club’s other directors have not really articulated this position strongly until after Tuesday’s result in Portugal.

The newspaper claims that Inzaghi has felt that the club should have done more to publicly protect him and affirm their support during the difficult period that he and the squad have faced following losses to Bologna and Spezia in particular.
