Legendary former Inter defender Beppe Bergomi is not sure if he would be able to handle commentating on a Champions League knockout match between the Nerazzurri and AC Milan at this point.

Speaking on Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after Inter secured their place in the quarterfinals of Europe’s top club competition, Bergomi joked that he doesn’t think he’d be able to be on the commentary for a Milan derby in Europe.

Inter have officially booked their place in the last eight of Europe’s top club competition with yesterday evening’s draw away to Porto, and in so doing, they have opened up the possibility of facing city rivals Milan in the next round.

The Rossoneri had already gotten to the next round with their own away draw against Tottenham Hotspur last week, and so the two derby rivals now have an entirely realistic chance of meeting depending on the outcome of Friday’s quarterfinal draw.

For his part, Bergomi expects that the intensity of such a match in Euopre might be a bit much for him.

“One imagines that it gets easier to handle these emotions as you get older, but that’s certainly not the case!” the former defender said after the Nerazzurri’s match against Porto yesterday.

Regarding the possibility of a match against Milan in the next round, Bergomi added that “If it happens, I’m not going to be able to do the commentary!”
