Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin feels that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi’s work should not be judged too harshly in comparison to his predecessor Antonio Conte considering the differing financial situations faced by the two coaches.

Writing in his column in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Libero, via FCInter1908, Biasin argues that whilst Conte was in charge, Inter were depleted of resources, which has in turn caused headaches for Inzaghi.

There is no doubt that Inzaghi has not been backed financially to the same degree that Conte had been whilst the latter was Inter coach.

The question of how exactly this has affected the two coaches’ work respectively, and of how much Inzaghi has also benefited from the investment that was made during Conte’s tenure, is more up for debate.

However, from Biasin’s perspective, it is a factor that should be taken into consideration when comparing the work of the two coaches.

“This is a coach who’s been left with a squad that’s still competitive (otherwise they wouldn’t be in the last eight in Europe), but which has gone from Hakimi to Dumfries, from Perisic to Dimarco, from Skriniar (still there, but his head is in Paris) to Darmian, and Lukaku from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde,” he writes.

“It’s not easy to live in comparison with the coach who preceded you if that coach had a fat bank account, withdrew all the money, and then left sorting out the problems that came from it to whoever came later to fix the mess,” he adds.
