Ligue 1 side Marseille do not feel that they have a realistic chance of signing Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram in the summer, and expect him to join a “big European club.”

This according to French news outlet L’Equipe, via FCInterNews, who report that the French side held a meeting with the 25-year-old’s representatives in February, but that it was made clear that they would not be able to sign him given the interest of some other top clubs.

Thuram has attracted the interest of any number of clubs given the fact that he will be available on a free transfer when his contract runs out at the end of June, and Inter have been one of the clubs most strongly following him.

It has been reported by Sky Sports Detschland that Chelsea and Bayern Munich have all but dropped out of the race to sign the Frenchman.

However, there are still numerous other clubs who will be trying to bring Thuram in, and for this reason L’Equipe report that Marseille don’t see him as a realistic target.
